We are beautiful and worth preserving!

Blog Post 1 We are beautiful and worth preserving!

There are many things such as gender, age, country of origin, race, religion, culture, our preferences, talents, and perspectives, to name a tiny few that make people different from one another. The world is a colorful canvas of diverse people!

This diversity makes our world the wonderful and interesting place that it is! It makes it possible for us to differentiate ourselves from others and to appreciate our own individual worth and uniqueness as well as that of the many other people.

Whilst it is so that no two persons are the same, there is one thing that we all do have in common, and that, is that WE ARE ALL HUMAN with physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions, that require interaction with others. We are aware of our abilities, thoughts, reflections, and essentially, our own existence. We are able to know, understand, and appreciate ourselves and the world that we live in.

The people of Africa have always placed high value on Consciousness.  This is reflected in the age-old African saying stating that man’s ability to know him/her-self (that automatically includes knowing what it means to be human) differentiates between human life that is functional and human life that is dysfunctional.

And looking at the world, most people would agree that it is becoming increasingly dysfunctional. We have seen major worrying changes taking place over the past four to five years. Humanity stands at a pivotal point where we seem to be losing our God-given gift to even make such or any enquiry that is unauthorised.

We are increasingly being stripped from our say and choice when it comes to our physical bodies and fast reaching the point of no return from a bizarre digitised, artificial/unnatural, singular, flatland, and heartless world. We are at the precipice of giving it all away before we have even begun to fully know what it means to be human.

The ’new’ uBuntu Civics Academy’ is a response to our observation of the world in contrast to what we have come to know about our humanness and our potential – our uBuntu.

It is our acceptance of the gift and the responsibility that come with being human. We take pride in our humanness and our incredible potential and refuse to be forced to betray our truest nature that is beautiful and worth preserving!

We invite you to join us in our most important task of making people aware, not only of the threat to our humanness that we are facing, but especially of our uBuntu – of Who We Really Are!

“I dream of a new world, and a new humanity. A humanity that expresses its uBuntu: uMuntu Ngumuntu Ngabantu. I Am because We Are. We Are All One. I encourage you to remember the magic of Who You Are. Live to your Highest Potential and see the potential in others. To celebrate the wonder of our diversity, and most importantly, to go and Be Who You Are.

This is our Common Legacy.”

~ Late Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
